Calla Poulos Obituary

Calla J. Poulos, age 88, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, July 9, 2017, surrounded by her family, at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center of Manitowoc, where she had resided the past four weeks.The former Calla Wills was born on February 12, 1929 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Elmer and Esther (Genrich) Wills. She was a lifelong resident of Manitowoc and loved her community. She attended local area schools and graduated with the class of 1947 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Prior to her marriage, Calla worked for Fehr's Jewelry Shop and the Manitowoc Savings Bank. On March 24, 1951, she was married to William J. Poulos in Manitowoc. Calla and Bill enjoyed several trips to major cities in the U.S. as well as vacationing in Three Lakes, WI. Calla was a wonderful and involved mother and grandmother. Family was the most important part of Calla's life and she enjoyed many happy times with her extended family and lifelong friends.Survivors include her loving husband: William J. Poulos, Manitowoc; two daughters and one son-in-law: Carrie (Gene) Hancock, Eagan, MN; Cynthia Kiepert, Plover, WI and her special friend: Gery Glodowski; three grandchildren: Emily Hancock, St. Paul, MN; Jennifer Hancock, Portland, OR; Alan Kiepert, Plover, WI; one sister: Gloria Ruppelt, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law: Les Kirchen, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Ilona Poulos, Manitowoc; three nieces and three nephews: Rob (Kathy) Ruppelt, Manitowoc; Ann (Dave) Freigang, Brookfield, WI; Christine (Mark) Nickels, Manitowoc; David Kirchen, Manitowoc; Sandy (Dave) Watkins, St. Paul. MN; Mike (Jan) Stoetzel, Middleton, WI; other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer and Esther Wills; one brother-in-law: Eugene Ruppelt; one sister-in-law: Diane Kirchen.Private family funeral services will be held at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc. Burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery.
