Carol Jandre Obituary

Carol R. Jandre, age 94, of Manitowoc, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 13, 2017 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center in Manitowoc where she had resided since 1975. Carol was born on March 12, 1923, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Rev. Julius and Lillian (Lehmkuhl) Jandre. As a child, she contracted polio and underwent five operations at the Shriners Hospital in Chicago. Carol attended Manitowoc Vocational School and the Manitowoc Business College. She worked in a doctor's office, insurance office and the Visiting Nursing Service. Music has been an important part of Carol's life. She liked classical music, religious music and an occasional polka. She was a member for many years at Wesley United Methodist Church, now known as Lakeshore United Methodist Church. Survivors include two special cousins: Shirley Jacobs, Manitowoc; her care giver: Jim "Jimmy" Pfefferkorn, Manitowoc; three step-nephews: Frank Wendt, CT; Jerome Wendt, MN; Richard Wendt, OH, other second cousins and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Rev. Julius and Lillian Jandre; one step-sister: Adelaide Wendt; past care-givers: Dorothy Pfefferkorn; Paul & Ethel Risch. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Nancy Dvorachek will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
