Dawn M. Staszak, age 71, of Manitowoc, passed away early Thursday morning, December 7, 2017, at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers, with her family by her side.Dawn was born on July 26, 1946 in Rhinelander daughter of Arthur and Mary (Westbrook) Dumpprope. Dawn was raised in Rhinelander and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1964. She married John Staszak on July 28, 1972, and enjoyed 45 years of wedded bliss. Dawn worked for over 20 years at the Rhinelander School District, retiring in 2012, and moved to Manitowoc in 2014 to spend her retirement years spoiling her granddaughters.Dawn enjoyed spending her summers in her perfectly manicured gardens and her winters in her sewing room quilting and embroidering. She was the most caring person with a heart of gold. Dawn was always willing to lend a helping hand and help those in need from volunteering at the Community Garden and Food Pantry to making meals for an ailing friend. She was a member of the Nature's Own Gardeners Club, Manitowoc Homemakers Club, and Manitowoc Quilting Guild.Dawn is survived by her husband: John Staszak; her daughter and son-in-law: Cari and Scott Larsen; her granddaughters: Shayne and Finley Larsen, all of Manitowoc. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law: Doug (Sue) Dumpprope, Rhinelander; sisters and brothers-in-law: Lois Pence, Colonial Heights, VA; Judy (Clayton) Young; Bonnie Willcox; Tammie (Paul) Nowak, all of Rhinelander; Linda (Hollie) Skinner, Neenah; Pat (Rick) Marquardt, Albuquerque, NM; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Dawn is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son Trevor Staszak, her sister Carol Pietrzyk, her brothers Duane, Terry, and Robin Dumpprope, and her favorite aunt, Irene Westbrook.A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc. A second Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Restlawn Memorial Park, 4710 North Troy Street, Wausau. The Rev. David Hatch will officiate with entombment of her cremated remains to follow in the mausoleum where she will be laid to rest next to her son.
