Dorothy Crechard Obituary

Dorothy F. Crechard, age 87, a lifelong resident of Manitowoc, died early Wednesday morning, April 12, 2017 at Meadow View Assisted Living of Two Rivers. The former Dorothy F. Schlais was born February 26, 1930 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Raymond and Agnes H. (Cisler) Schlais. She attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1948 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On September 9, 1950 Dorothy was married to Francis J. Crechard at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2013. Dorothy was employed as a secretary at Smalley Manufacturing until her retirement. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a current member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Dorothy was a great baker and homemaker and enjoyed making many wedding cakes for people.Dorothy is survived by her one daughter and two sons-in-law: Margaret (James) Bethke, Kaukauna; Keith Shebesta, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Vanessa Crechard, CA; Monica L.(Robin) Skinner, Manitowoc; Zachary Burish and his special friend: Jennifer, Manitowoc; Amber (Jeremiah) Brault, Manitowoc; four great-grandchildren: Vanessa, Victoria, Beau and Romeo; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Betty Meany, Montgomery, AL; Mary (Rick) Nicholson, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Patsy Mandel, Appleton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She is preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Agnes Schlais; one son: Michael Crechard; two daughters: Monica A. Shaw; Maureen Shebesta; one sister and three brothers-in-law: Marcella (Keith) Vetting, Leo Meany and Paul Mandel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue. Rev. David Pleier will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
