Edwin Hein Obituary

Edwin G. Hein, age 88, of Manitowoc, died Sunday afternoon, December 31, 2017 at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. Edwin was born on September 18, 1929 in Manitowoc, son of the late Edwin M. and Ida L. (Ourada) Hein. He attended local area schools and graduated with the class of 1948 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On August 11, 1951 he married the former Mary E. Petrie in New Jersey. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2010, after celebrating 59 years of marriage. Edwin served in the United State Navy from October 15, 1948 until his honorable discharge in September 23, 1952. He worked for various architectural firms in the area until his retirement. Edwin was an artist and enjoyed carving birds. In his free time dad enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church and served in the past on the Church Council.Survivors include his three children: Mark J. Hein and his fiancée: Amanda Jo Likewise, Somerset, and his daughter: Raychel Hein and Amanda Jo's son: Donaven Likewise; Cathy Hyde and her special friend: Paul Seefeldt, Manitowoc, and her children: Amanda (Michael) Bolen; Brittany Hein and her fiancé: Timothy Kraemer; Joseph Hein; Emily Hyde; Cathy's grandchildren include: Sophia, William and Michael; Laura (James) Rozoff, Manitowoc, and her son: Jarrod (Madeline) Bunnell; one sister: Mary Ann Madsen, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edwin and Ida Hein; his wife: Mary Hein.A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1122 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Daniel R. Sims will officiate. A luncheon for family and friends will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial of his cremated remains will take place in the spring at Knollwood Memorial Gardens. Graveside Military Honors will be held at that time.
