Jean Weina Obituary

Jean C. Weina, age 85, a Manitowoc resident died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, WI. She resided at Felician Village for the past four years.Jean was born on May 28, 1932 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Wencil and Margaret (Monka) Wilda. She was a 1950 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On August 17, 1950 Jean was married to Kenneth D. Weina at St. James Episcopal Church in Manitowoc. Jean worked as a bookkeeper for a short time, and then was a loving mother to three wonderful boys and a busy homemaker. She was active in school activities, boy scouts, band mothers, and church activities at First Lutheran church in Manitowoc. Jean was a good friend and neighbor. When the boys were older, Jean worked as an Avon Lady, and at Kelvinator Company. Jean and her husband Ken enjoyed traveling, the couple visited all 50 states and Europe, spending many winters in Florida or Texas.Jean was a member of First Lutheran Church, active in Bible Study, Senior Choir, and Hospitality. She also was a member of the Manitowoc Senior Center and was a lifetime member of the Manitowoc Historical Society. She volunteered there and at Pine Crest Village for many years. She loved cashiering in the gift shop and serving at special events. Jean was a loyal Green Bay Packer fan, and a Milwaukee Brewers fan.Jean is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law: Steven and Cindy Weina, Sheboygan; Grant and Deb Weina, Mt. Horeb; Kurt and Kay Weina, Omro; seven grandchildren: Dawn and David Bossler; Hope and Jerod James; Sarah and Mark Sauer; Christopher and Juliana Weina; Carissa Weina; Eric and Linda Gustke; Alyssa and Travis Adams; twelve great-grandchildren: Danielle, Darcy, Kingston, Gianna, Adelyne, Xavier, Amelia, Jaiden, Arabella, Raelyn, Brady, Ellison; one brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Nancy) Wilda, OH; one sister and brother-in-law: Ann Marie (Paul) Gregoire, MA; three nieces: Elizabeth Swisher; Mary Wilda; Nicole (Daniel) Allis, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by husband: Kenneth Weina; her parents: Wencil and Margaret Wilda; her father-in-law: and mother-in-law: Conrad and Grace Weina.A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at First Lutheran Church, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Kristin Berglund will officiate with graveside services to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations would be appreciated to First Lutheran Church.
