Kevin Curby Obituary

Kevin J. Curby, age 58, left this world unexpectedly Tuesday, July 18, 2017. His sudden and tragic death was the result of natural causes. His loving heart gave so much to others in his short lifetime that it needed a rest so Kevin took it with him to Heaven. He is now riding free with his Dad (Elmer), and looking down on his "Princess" (wife, Robin); "Scooter" (youngest son, Seth) son Craig [Erica]; grandchildren Brittany and Chase; sister Cindi; mom Carol and step-dad Rollie; mom-in-law Charlee Quistorf, many wonderful, long-time friends, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, co-workers, neighbors, even people whose names he didn't know. Kevin never encountered a person in this world with whom he didn't become friends. His big, burly biker image wasn't a façade, it's just that he was a real-life teddy bear that looked and laughed like a grizzly bear. He was preceded in death by his father: Elmer Curby and his grandparents: Edward and Bernice Scheidegger. His wife Robin describes him as "the Love of my Life!" his son Seth knew him as "the Best Dad and friend I could ever have hoped for!" and his son Craig wants him to be remembered as the most awesome Dad and Grandpa ever!" Kevin loved his current fur babies: Autumn, Charlie and Runtee, plus all of those that were in his life earlier (including Shania and Baco). He always provided a loving home for his entire family, and his pets were no exception. Even his ball python and corn snakes were rescues that he truly admired, and who will be tenderly cared for in Kevin's absence by his wife Robin and son, Seth. Kevin loved all creatures, large and small, furry or scaly, cuddly creatures and those that weren't.Riding his Harley, camping in the Northwoods and sharing time with those he loved are what Kevin was most passionate about. His joy for life, infectious laughter and gentle soul will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched… and he touched more lives than anyone else we know. Kevin's family will greet friends and relatives on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Location of a celebration of Kevin's life (with a light lunch and lots of laughter just as Kevin would want) will be announced immediately following the services. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.comThe staff of Jens, Reinbold & Pfeffer funeral home is assisting the family with final arrangements, and we are extremely thankful for the compassion and patience given us throughout this sudden tragedy. We are also extremely and forever grateful to the Mishicot Ambulance Service and the Mishicot Volunteer Fire Department for their quick response and valiant efforts. They were responsible for keeping Kevin's heart beating while transporting him to Holy Family Hospital – where another amazing staff took over immediately. While there are too many people to thank personally, the family sincerely thanks the incredibly passionate Dr. Reim from ER, the superbly dedicated and wise Dr. Gentile and the entire Cardiac Cath lab staff, including the sweet and loving Heidi Stradel. The Holy Family Cardiac Cath Lab staff is the best in the world, and we thank them for making every effort humanly possible to save Kevin's life. We will appreciate you forever. Thank you also to the Rev. Jayne Helgevold chaplain of Holy Family Pastoral Care for tenderly guiding us through a nightmare – you truly made a difference in helping us assimilate our loss.
