Leon Sobush Obituary

Leon D. Sobush III, age 57, of Manitowoc, died peacefully on Monday morning, February 5, 2018 at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center with his loving family at his side following a courageous battle with cancer.Leon was born on April 23, 1960 in Two Rivers, son of the Judy (Jochem) Sobush and the late Leon Sobush Jr. He attended schools in North Carolina and Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Leon was employed with various sheet metal shops in Manitowoc and was also an avid wood worker and fisherman. He was an incredible drummer throughout the late 70's and early 80's and was in five local rock bands. Most recently he enjoyed restoring junk Cymbals to "like new" again.Survivors include his mother: Judy Sobush, Manitowoc; two brothers: Tracy Sobush, Newton and his special friend: Kim Kaminski; Eric Sobush (Mark Roeker), Milwaukee; aunts and uncles include: Mike (Patricia) Sobush, Francis Creek; Bonita Sobush Spindler, Racine; cousins include: Sonya Sobush (Mary Jo), Milwaukee; Amy Sobush, Manitowoc; Clarissa Sobush McArdle (Scott McArdle), Francis Creek; Penny (John) Kannall, Elm Grove, various other cousins in Wisconsin, Florida and Texas, and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his father: Leon D. Sobush Jr., Menomonee Falls; his son: Leon D. Sobush IV, Manitowoc; grandparents: Leon D. Sobush Sr., Manitowoc; Belinda Catherine (Riley) Sobush Taube, Wauwatosa; Otto E. Jochem, Manitowoc; Adina (Kinast) Jochem, Manitowoc; four uncles: Daniel Sobush, Florida; Donald Sobush, California and Milwaukee; Charles E. Jochem, Manitowoc; David Sobush, Milwaukee.A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, 502 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Dr. Matthew L. Sauer will officiate with burial of his cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Following the memorial service there will be a reception for family and friends in the church fellowship hall for a time of remembrance and refreshments. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements.
