Nancy Kapinos Obituary

Nancy Ann Kapinos, age 75, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, March 31, 2018 surrounded by family at Aurora BayCare Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer.Nancy was born on December 3, 1942 to the late Emil Jr. and Jean (Leist) Kloida. She attended Manitowoc Schools, graduating with the class of 1961 from Lincoln High School. She married Robert Kapinos on July 2, 1966 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2007. Nancy spent 32 years in the 1st Grade at Jackson Elementary School helping 100's of children during that time. After retirement from Jackson she enjoyed spending time with her friends, weekly and bi-weekly lunch outings were not uncommon. Nancy also enjoyed going on bus trips always coming home with unique stories and making special memories with a group of very dear friends.Together Bob and Nancy had two sons and one daughter: Robert John (Rose) Kapinos, Middleton; Craig "Gus" Alan (Heidi) Kapinos, Valders; and Shari Ann Cody (special friend Steve Van Sluys), De Pere. The light of her life were her grandchildren: Katie Kapinos, Valders; Abigail & Jonathon Cody, De Pere; two step-grandchildren: Brian (Kim) Gebhard and Laurie Gebhard (Mark Reichers), Madison and 8 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers: John "Jack" (Rene) Kloida and Bob Kloida both of Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Suzanne Kapinos-Dock, Manitowoc. She is further survived by nieces, a nephew and godchildren as well as other relatives and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents: Emil and Jean Kloida; her husband: Bob Kapinos; her mother-in-law and her husband: Lucille and Reinhardt Fanslau; her father-in-law and his wife: Lawrence and Ruth Kapinos; one brother-in-law: Rudy Dock.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Dave Pleier will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and again on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. There will be a parish prayer service at 5:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home led by Deacon Alan Boeldt.
