Oliver "Ollie" Marquardt was called by God to enter eternal rest on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his residence.Ollie was born on April 8, 1932 in Manitowoc, son of the late Adolph and Sophia (Rocklewitz) Marquardt. He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1951 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Ollie served in the United States Air Force. Ollie loved hunting, being outdoors and the Packers. He thoroughly enjoyed his time visiting with family and friends. He loved sharing memories and "catching up" hearing news on what was happening with everyone. Ollie had a special affection for animals especially all of his dogs as well as the horses at the ranch.The "Big Ol" had a favorite phrase; "Bad Actor". If someone was doing something bad, or a dog was misbehaving, they were referred as Bad Actors. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.He is survived by his daughter: Collette Candelaria, Two Rivers; two sons: Mark Marquardt, NM; Adolph Marquardt, NM; three grandchildren: Melody (Chris) Lykins, NM; Victoria Candelaria, NM; Celestino Candelaria and his partner: Luis Sanches, AZ; one great-granddaughter: Ali Lykins, CA; two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Orman (Mary Ann) Marquardt, AZ; John "Boots" (Diane) Marquardt, Anchorage, AK; Marian Marquardt, Manitowoc; special nephews and niece: Luke, Brooke and Noah Kiel; two special great nephews and niece: Taylor, Gentry Oliver and Montanna, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and his German Shepherd: Ruger also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; Orville Marquardt; one sister: Dianne Kiel; one aunt: Manilda "Lala" Serwe.A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1122 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. David Pleier will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Graveside Military Honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans Chapter #731 of Manitowoc.
