Ruth E. Junk

Ruth E. Junk, age 95, of 1319 North 9th Street, Manitowoc, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, December 19, 2017 at River Wood Estates, Manitowoc.Ruth was born on July 15, 1922 in the town of Two Rivers, the daughter of the late Myles and Mildred (Zimmerhakel) Krejcarek. She attended local area schools and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1940. On September 2, 1944 she married Lloyd Junk at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. Ruth worked at the Mirro Company until she and Lloyd moved to Beloit, Wisconsin in 1946 where she worked for Fairbanks Morse Company and taught sewing at Singer Sewing Machine Company. Being new to the city of Beloit, Ruth joined Newcomers Club and became very involved in the club serving as its secretary. The couple also became members of the Petunia Square Dance Club attending dances at other clubs in the area. In years to come they served as officers including president. They enjoyed going to the Peaceful Valley Ranch in Colorado in the summer for a week of square dance activities. Retiring in 1987 they moved back to Manitowoc. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.Ruth is survived by her husband: Lloyd Junk; her brother and sister-in-law: LeRoy (Dorothy) Krejcarek; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Earl (Jeanette) Junk; Ethelyn Bolle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. David Pleier and Rev. Gerald Foley will concelebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements.
