Allen W. Chvala, also known as "Chief" to his close friends, passed away at age 74, in Green Bay WI. on June 17, 2018.Allen was born on October 24, 1943 in Manitowoc son of the late Wencel "Jim" and Marie (Leggio) Chvala. He was a 1961 graduate of Denmark High School. Allen proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1964 in Korea. On December 17, 1971 Allen was united in marriage to Bette A. Pillsbury at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. Family meant everything to Allen, as shown by his unconditional love for his granddaughters. Allen enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and letting his granddaughters drive his old beater truck thru the fields on the Chvala Homestead. Allen enjoyed spending countless hours attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, concerts and dance recitals.Allen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, founding member of the Denmark Norseman Snowmobile Club, Manitowoc County Alliance of Snowmobile Clubs, WFLA Lodge #114 of Rosecrans and the Johnson-Hershman American Legion Post #363 of Denmark. Survivors include his wife: Bette Chvala, Maribel; two sons and daughters-in-law: Michael (Rachel) Chvala, Maribel; Andy (Heather) Chvala, Green Bay; one daughter: Jenny Chvala, La Crosse; five granddaughters: Megan; Tayler; MacKenzie; Callie and Alex; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Virginia (Richard) Veague, Huntington Beach, CA; Janice (Harlan) Konkel, Green Bay; Emily Leggio, Seattle, WA; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ken (Laura) Pillsbury, Oconto; Terry (Karen) Pillsbury, Peshtigo; Dennis (Mary) Pillsbury, Oconto, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wencel and Marie Chvala.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. Deacon Cal Naidl will officiate at the Liturgy with Word & Communion with burial to follow at the parish cemetery with military honors accorded by the Johnson-Hershman American Legion Post #363. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Kellnersville from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:00 a.m. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home to end the visitation.
