Edward L. Vetting

Edward L. Vetting, age 93, of Manitowoc, passed away Monday afternoon, November 12, 2018 at the Villa at Felician Village, Manitowoc with his son and daughter-in-law at his side.Edward was born on June 17, 1925 in Manitowoc, son of the late Arthur and Freida (Kieselhorst) Vetting. He grew up in rural Manitowoc county and graduated with the class of 1943 from Valders High School. In 1943, Edward joined the United States Army and fought during WWII in Europe, being honorably discharged in 1945. On November 12, 1949, Edward married Joan V. Broeker in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on March 28, 1983. Edward, Joan and their sons moved to Charlevoix, MI in 1967 with Medusa Cement Co. where he had worked for 40 years until his retirement. In April of 1984 Edward married Mary M. Martin in Charlevoix, MI. She preceded him in death in 2010. He then moved back to Manitowoc in 2011 to be closer to family. Edward was a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Charlevoix, MI and a current member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Manitowoc.Edward is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Barry W. (Belinda) Vetting, Menasha; three step-sons; one step-daughter and their extended families; one brother-in-law: Gordon Kohlbeck, rural Whitelaw; one sister-in-law: Jane Deering, Grand Rapids, MI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Edward was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur and Freida Vetting; his two wives: Joan Vetting; Mary Vetting; one son: Jeffrey W. Vetting; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Verna Kohlbeck; Arlene (Roland) Bierman.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1712 Menasha Avenue, Manitowoc. The Rev. Zachary DeArmond will officiate with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Manitowoc at 1:00 p.m. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the funeral services, a luncheon for family and friends will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated for Holy Family Memorial Hospice & Home Care. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
