Grace Reichert Obituary

Grace I. Reichert (née Hanson), age 86, of Manitowoc, died early Thursday morning, January 24, 2019 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.Grace was born July 10, 1932 in Manitowoc County near Valders, daughter of the late Isaac and Gertrude (Wiegert) Hanson. She graduated with the class of 1949 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Grace married Robert E. Reichert at Gjerpen Church, Valders, on September 15, 1951. For many years Grace worked as a medical assistant for Dr. William Randolph at his ENT clinic in Manitowoc. Grace then attended the Holy Family School of Nursing, graduating in 1972, and practiced as a Registered Nurse at Holy Family Hospital for several years. After that she worked for Drs. Patrick Limoni and John Stern at Lakeshore Urology until her retirement in 1997.Grace was a member of First Lutheran Church and was active in the First Lutheran Church Alter Guild and the First Lutheran Church Women, coordinating the assembly of hundreds of baby care kits over the years. Grace was also an artist, and belonged to the Viking Rosemalers of Manitowoc County. Grace was concerned with protecting the environment and was an active member of the Tri-Lakes Association in Kewaunee county. She was also a life member of the Manitowoc Historical Society and an avid supporter of the Lakeshore Humane Society of Manitowoc.Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Lori Reichert; Paul and Margaret Reichert; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Reichert and Brian Baldwin; three grandchildren, Mike Reichert, Jon Reichert, and Rachel Reichert; and two step-grandsons, Robin Synhorst and Charley Kellerman. Grace is further survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Joan Hanson; Lester and Lorna Hanson; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Norma Drumm; Sandra and Dr. John Frost; Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. As well as her husband Robert, Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Gertrude Hanson; one brother, Roy Hanson; one infant sister Joyce Hanson; two brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law: Charles Drumm; Lyle and Irene Reichert.A memorial service will be held for Grace at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the First Lutheran Church Chapel, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate. Burial of her cremated remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc at a later date. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday at the chapel from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., followed by a memorial service. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements. Grace had requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakeshore Humane Society of Manitowoc.
