Harriet J. Knapp, 85, of Manitowoc, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 15, 2017, at Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc. Harriet was born on October 20, 1931 in Valders, daughter of the late Clarence and Myrtle (Erickson) Krueger. She attended schools in the Valders area graduating with the class of 1949 from Valders High School. On August 1, 1953, she married Wendel G. Knapp. Harriet was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where she served on various committees and was the first female council member. She enjoyed being part of the St. John's Women's Guild and participating in the YMCA's active older adult programing. Harriet was also a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Harriet is survived by her husband: Wendel G. Knapp, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Randy (Nancy) Knapp, Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law: Carolyn (Henry) Jensen, Manitowoc; Linda (Tim) Matthias, Whitelaw; nine grandchildren: Jessica Vogel; Kim Hernet; Scott Rozmarynowski; Craig Rozmarynowski; Kyle Jensen; Kari Jensen; Nic Jensen; Brad Matthias; Bryan Matthias; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law: Violet (Raphael) Rusch, Two Rivers; sister-in-law: Lucy Jandrey, Kaukauna, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Clarence and Myrtle Krueger; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Glenn (Laura) Knapp; one brother and sister-in-law: Wilfred (Barbara) Krueger; one sister and brother-in-law: Audrey (Lawrence) Jandrey; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Alta (Edgar) Lannbrecht; Winifred (Milton) Buss. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1501 Marshall Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Dr. Matthew L. Sauer will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
