Henry Jack Welsch, age 93, of Manitowoc currently residing at Harbor View Assisted Living, died late Thursday evening, February 8, 2018 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.Henry was born on October 23, 1924, son of the late Gottlieb and Katherine (Miller) Welsch. He grew up and was educated in Manitowoc. Henry served his country in the United States Army Air Corps from May of 1943 until May of 1947, entering the reserves and was called back to active duty in January of 1951 until August of 1952. He married the former Elaine R. Wagner on June 11, 1948 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2003. Henry and his wife lived in Manitowoc all of their life, but loved to spend time at their cottage in Athelstane. Henry worked as a lineman for Wisconsin Public Service from 1952 until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, lifetime member of Otto-Oas VFW Post# 659 and AmVets Post #99 both of Manitowoc. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law: Gary (Jane) Welsch, Athelstane; one grandson and his wife: Calee (Michelle) Welsch, Two Rivers; one great grandson: Jakob Welsch, Two Rivers; one brother-in-law: Richard Wagner, Wilmington, DE, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Gottlieb and Katherine Welsch; his wife: Elaine Welsch; one brother: Edward H. Welsch, killed in Korea in 1950; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Margaret Welsch; Lydia (William) Eichman.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Daniel R. Sims will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Graveside Military Honors will be accorded by the AmVets Post #99 of Manitowoc.
