Judy Sobush Obituary

Judith Lynn Sobush, age 80, was born into eternal rest on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.Judy was born on January 16, 1940, in Morton Grove, Illinois daughter of the late Otto E. Jochem and Adina (Kinast) Jochem. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1958. Judy also attended the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee for retail sales management. On February 14, 1960 she married Leon D. Sobush II. He preceded her in death in 1999. Judy was employed at Montgomery Ward for many years until they closed when she continued her career in various retail positions. In retirement she continued on in retail working for Marcia's Second Time Around in Milwaukee.Judy loved gardening, reading, and animals especially cats. She volunteered at Pine Crest Historical Village, Holy Family Memorial and enjoyed researching family history. Judy served as Deacon of First Presbyterian Church and considered her fellow parishioners to be family.Survivors include two sons, Tracy B. Sobush (Kim Kaminski) Manitowoc, Eric Sobush (Mark Roeker) Milwaukee, one brother-in-law, Michael Sobush (Patricia) Francis Creek. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, Leon D Sobush II, one son, Leon D Sobush III and one grandson, Leon D Sobush IV, one brother, Charles "Chucky" Jochem.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church, 502 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Dr. Matthew L. Sauer and Rev. Judine Duerwaechter will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts and memorials to First Presbyterian Church and/or Ascend Services, Inc. (The former Holiday House). The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc assisted the family with arrangements.
