Orley S. Skattebo, age 79, of Manitowoc, died Tuesday afternoon, October 9, 2018 at his residence with his family at his side.Orley was born on May 1, 1939 in Manitowoc, son of the late Olvin and Sophia (Halderson) Skattebo. He attended local area schools and Lakeshore Technical College. He served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1963. On February 26, 1993 he married the former Marilyn Karbon in Michigan. Orley retired from the Ariens Corporation in 2005 where he had worked for the previous ten years. He was a member of Midlakes Rustic Iron. Orley enjoyed working on antique machinery. He is survived by his wife: Marilyn Skattebo, Manitowoc; his children include: John Skattebo, Two Rivers; James Skattebo, Two Rivers; Richard Skattebo, Milwaukee; Dennis Skattebo, WI; Lisa (Matt) Schwoerer, FL; Tom Skattebo, Valders; Brian (Chrissy) Hamberg, Maple Grove; Shawn Hamberg, New Holstein; six grandchildren; sisters and brothers include: Helen Schanke, Appleton; Lois LaFleur (Leon Soeldner), Manitowoc; Orrin Skattebo (Candace Handl), Manitowoc; Leo (Lynn) Skattebo, Brillion; Glenn (Bonita) Skattebo, Brown Deer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include: James (Vicky) Karbon, Manitowoc; Judy Karbon, Manitowoc; Nancy (Gary) Larson, AZ; three special friends: Marian Dennis; Ted and Joan Polzin, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Olvin and Sophia Skattebo; one granddaughter: Courtney Hamberg; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Doris (Howard) Gauger; Marie Skattebo; one brother and sister-in-law: Leon (Audrey) Skattebo; four brothers-in-law: Elmer Schanke; Robert Maurer; Richard LaFleur; Chester Karbon Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Chester and Ann Karbon Sr.According to Orley's wishes no funeral services will be held. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
