Shirley Jacob Obituary

Shirley M. Jacob, age 87, lifelong resident of Manitowoc, went to her eternal home in heaven Friday morning, December 28, 2018 at St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc.Shirley was born on November 11, 1931, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Herbert and Hilda (Reinhardt) Jacob. She graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. Shirley worked as an Office Manager for Berkedal and Shimek for 38 years and then as a receptionist for St. Mary's Home for 13 years. She also worked at the Thought of You Gift Shop for 10 years.Shirley was a member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a past member of the church choir. Shirley was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority. She enjoyed traveling in the United States and Europe. Shirley also loved to volunteer at Repeat Performance and the Felician Village.Survivors include cousins: Howard (Shirley) Schmill, Manitowoc; Bea Buss and the late Donald Buss, Manitowoc; other close relatives include: Allen (Karen) Peckham, Appleton; Kathy Schmill, Manitowoc; Deborah Rhode (Ken) Irinaga, San Francisco, CA; Greg (Renee) Schmill, Manitowoc; Tim (Liz) Rhode, Baltimore, MD; Patti (Mukesh) Kumar, Canton, MI, other relatives and many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Herbert and Hilda Jacob; aunts, uncles and cousins.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, 1033 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Mark Johnston will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Following the funeral service there will be a luncheon held at the Jens Family Funeral Home, 1122 South 8th Street, please enter on the south driveway underneath the canopy. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc Lutheran High School or the donor's choice in Shirley's Name. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc assisted the family with arrangements.
