Steven Alpert Obituary

Steven R. Alpert, age 69, a lifelong Manitowoc resident, died on Friday, November 3, 2017 in hospice care at River's Bend Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc surrounded by his loving family.Steve was born October 17, 1948, in Manitowoc. He was a 1966 graduate of Lincoln High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh and Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School. Steve was an attorney in Manitowoc for more than 40 years, starting his first law practice shortly after graduating from law school and grew the business over the years to become the Alpert & Fellows law firm. He served as the first municipal judge in Manitowoc and was a past president of the Manitowoc County Bar Association and the Rotary Club. In addition to his distinguished career as an attorney, he devoted his adult life to serving the Manitowoc community. Steve served on the Board of Directors for numerous community organizations including the Manitowoc County Ice Center, Aquatic Center, Public Library, and most recently, the Haven Homeless Shelter during the formation of these organizations. He was also a supervisor of the Manitowoc County Board, member of the City of Manitowoc Planning Commission and was the incorporator of the first Indochinese MAA in Wisconsin. Steve was an active member of the Anshe Poale Zedek Synagogue, Manitowoc. He was also a member of the Izaak Walton League of America, Manitowoc Chapter #138 and the Manitowoc Elks Lodge #687. Steve loved spending time with his family and enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards, and politics. He will always be remembered by his family for his kindness, wry sense of humor, and unwavering support of their passions and endeavors.Survivors include his loving wife: Kathleen Czajkowski Alpert of 40 years and three children: Abby (David Powell) Alpert, Philadelphia, PA; Nathan (Denisse Paola Villegas) Alpert, Milwaukee; Aaron Alpert, Los Angeles, CA; five sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Renee (Robert) Sather, Two Rivers; Rita Coursolle, Minneapolis, MN, and Lynn Borkin, Scottsdale, AZ; Ron (Delores) Czajkowski, Avon, MN; Tony (Margie) Czajkowski, Walnut Creek, CA, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son: Benjamin Alpert; parents: Ray and Molly Alpert; brother: Jim Alpert; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Anthony and Katherine Czajkowski. Visitation for Steve will be held at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc, on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Sheboygan Hebrew Cemetery in Kohler.In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for The Haven Homeless Shelter or the donor's choice.
