Thomas Kabat Obituary

Thomas R. Kabat, age 67 of Manitowoc, passed away Saturday morning, August 25, 2018 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by his loving family.Tom was born on January 31, 1951 in Manitowoc, son of the late Edward L. and Gladyce J. (Karn) Kabat. He attended local area schools and graduated with the class of 1969 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. He served during the Vietnam War in the United States Army from March of 1971 until his honorable discharge in October 1972. On October 5, 1996, he married the former Cathy Rae Anders at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Tom was owner of T.K.'s Painting & Stain for over 45 years. He enjoyed gardening (flowers & vegetables), biking and swimming. Tom was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and was a volunteer at the Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.He is survived by his wife: Cathy Kabat, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Michelle (Brian) Schopp, Milwaukee; one granddaughter: Lillianna Schopp, Milwaukee; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Darlene (Gary) Hermann, Two Rivers; Donna (Dale) Bruechart, Tisch Mills; Cathy Cisler, Manitowoc; Mary Jo (Danny) Anhalt, Reedsville; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Randy Kabat, Manitowoc; Jack (Kathy) Kabat, Kiel; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Deb Turnell, Madison; Stuart (Barb) Anders, Sun Prairie; Steve (Sheryl) Anders, Cottage Grove; Scott (Jean) Anders, Flower Mound, TX, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Gladyce Kabat; two brothers: Richard Kabat and Gary Kabat.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at Knollwood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 1:00 p.m. Military Honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans Chapter# 731 of Manitowoc following the service at the church.
